Responsibilities:

• Dispense prescription medications accurately to patients as per the doctor's orders
• Provide drug information and advice to patients and healthcare providers about medications, dosages, side effects, interactions, and proper use
• Review prescriptions for accuracy and check for potential drug interactions, contraindications, or allergies
• Counsel patients on medication usage, ensuring they understand how and when to take their medications
• Monitor patient medication therapy to ensure safety, efficacy, and adherence to prescribed treatments
• Prepare and compound medications as needed, including mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records related to prescriptions, medication history, and treatment plans
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care and medication management
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including laws, rules, and guidelines for dispensing medications
• Manage inventory of medications and pharmaceutical supplies, and ensure medications are stored and handled properly
• Provide immunizations and health screenings (where applicable) based on state and local regulations
• Advise on over-the-counter (OTC) medications and provide guidance on self-care and preventive health measures
